NS 2612

Hybrid corn variety NS 2612, developed by Serbian breeders and non-GMO, is a versatile mid-early maturing hybrid for grain and silage purposes. The vegetation period is 113-115 days, corresponding to FAO 280-300. The hybrid has been registered in the national register since 2013 and is adapted for cultivation in the forest-steppe and steppe zones of Ukraine, where it demonstrates high yields — up to 140 ц/ha for grain and over 500 ц/ha for silage. Under favorable conditions, the plant can form two full ears, significantly increasing productivity.

NS 2612 features a strong root system and a sturdy, elastic stem reaching 200-230 cm in height, resistant to lodging. The leaf canopy is well-developed, and the ears have a cylindrical shape with 14-16 rows of kernels. The hybrid is characterized by rapid early growth and high tolerance to major corn diseases such as helminthosporiosis, fusarium, and smut and rust. It is also resistant to sudden weather changes, including dry periods, ensuring stable yields even under stress conditions.

To achieve maximum yield, it is recommended to maintain optimal planting density: for grain purposes in the central-steppe zone — 55-65 thousand plants per hectare, in the southern-steppe zone — 45-50 thousand/ha, and for silage — 70-75 thousand/ha in the forest-steppe. It is important to monitor nitrogen fertilizer application, as excess can cause lodging and reduce yield.
