NS 223 — a high-yielding, medium-early hybrid corn variety intended for grain production. It features medium-height plants ranging from 250 to 300 cm, with ears up to 30 cm long and 14–16 rows of yellow, dent-type kernels. The 1000-kernel weight is approximately 350 g. Leaves are of medium width, slightly curved, and root and silk anthocyanin pigmentation is weak or absent. Tassel flowering occurs early, and the ears are dense, contributing to high yields.

Hybrid NS 223 exhibits good drought and lodging resistance, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. It is resistant to southern helminthosporiosis, moderately affected by bacterial ear blight and Fusarium ear rot, and moderately damaged by corn borers. Recommended plant density varies by region: in forest-steppe areas — 55,000–60,000 plants per hectare, in central steppe — 50,000–55,000, and in southern and dry steppe — 45,000–50,000 plants per hectare.

The grain yield of hybrid NS 223 can reach up to 150 centners per hectare, significantly exceeding regional averages. Due to its agronomic traits and resistance to adverse factors, this hybrid is suitable for intensive agriculture and ensures a stable high yield. It is recommended for cultivation in the Central Chernozem region and other areas with similar climatic conditions.
