MAS 28 A — a medium-early maize hybrid, intended for cultivation as grain or silage. This variety features a cream-colored, dent-type kernel and high productivity, enabling grain yields up to 15 tons per hectare and silage yields up to 75 tons per hectare. The plant is tall with medium-density ear attachment; the number of kernels per row is 26–30, and the number of rows is 14–16. The 1000-kernel weight varies from 320 to 340 grams, indicating high seed quality.
The hybrid exhibits high drought tolerance and lodging resistance, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions, including areas with limited moisture. Disease resistance levels are also high: Fusarium of ear and stem, and head smut (including the blister type) show high tolerance. Moreover, the variety demonstrates an effective STAY GREEN effect, which helps maintain green mass for longer and improves feed quality.
MAS 28 A is distinguished by excellent feed characteristics, making it highly sought after in dairy production. Grain starch content is 8%, and overall feed value is rated at 9 points. Recommended planting density depends on moisture conditions: in well-watered zones — 70–80 thousand plants per hectare; in dry zones — 80–90 thousand. For seed treatment, it is recommended to use Maxim HL, Alios, and AgroStart, which improve germination and plant health.
