Corn hybrid KWS FERNANDO is a mid-early hybrid with FAO 260, developed by breeders of the company KWS. This hybrid is characterized by very rapid early growth and high cold resistance, allowing planting at early dates when soil temperature is from +7 to +8°C. Plants are tall, reaching 270-280 cm in height, with strong vegetation and ear attachment height of 110-130 cm. Grain is dent type, large, weighing 320-340 g per 1000 kernels, with row numbers of 14-16 and 39-43 kernels per row. The hybrid has very high water permeability, which contributes to effective water utilization and accelerated development.
KWS FERNANDO is characterized by high plasticity and adaptability, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic zones and soil conditions in Ukraine. Recommended planting density varies depending on moisture level: at sufficient moisture — 75-85 thousand plants per hectare, at medium — 60-70 thousand, at insufficient — 45-55 thousand plants per hectare. The hybrid demonstrates high grain yield potential up to 18 tons per hectare, with well-filled ears and minimal abortion of upper kernels, ensuring stable and high productivity.
A distinctive feature of corn KWS FERNANDO is large, cream-colored kernels with high bypass starch content, which improves raw material quality for various applications. The hybrid is most effective with intensive and medium cultivation technologies. Thanks to its agronomic characteristics and high yield, KWS FERNANDO is one of the best options in the FAO 200-300 group, providing reliable and stable results for agricultural producers.
