KSM 7119

KSM 7119 — a mid-season hybrid maize, primarily intended for grain use. This three-line, intensive-type hybrid is highly adaptable to local climatic conditions of the North Caucasus region. The vegetative period is approximately 108 days, with medium-late flowering. The plant is of medium height, with medium-width leaves and anthocyanic tinge of the first leaf sheath of medium intensity. The ear is conical-cylindrical in shape, medium length and diameter, with a red stalk and 16-20 rows of yellow, dent-type kernels. The hybrid exhibits good cold resistance and medium water shedding, contributing to stable yields. The 1000-seed weight is 300-310 grams. Average grain yield in the region reaches 57-59 centners per hectare. Recommended planting density varies depending on moisture availability: 58-60 thousand plants per hectare for rainfall up to 350 mm, 60-62 thousand for 350-450 mm, and up to 65-70 thousand for more than 450 mm. KSM 7119 shows resistance to southern helminthosporium and medium resistance to common smut and ear bacterial disease, but is susceptible to ear fusarium. These characteristics make the hybrid attractive for cultivation in areas where these diseases are prevalent.
