Maize ELAMIA

French genetics for high-quality silage

Laboulet Semences has introduced "Elamia" as a specialized solution for farmers focused on high-energy forage production and food industry supply. As a three-way hybrid, this variety demonstrates the stability characteristic of the European breeding school, where the balance between vegetative mass and grain quality is paramount.

Key Advantages

• Silage efficiency: Elamia produces significant biomass, making it an excellent choice for harvesting silage with high nutrient density.
• Grain characteristics: The flint-type grain with its yellow-orange hue ensures high digestibility, which is critical for livestock operations.
• Disease resistance: A significant benefit is its pronounced resistance to common smut, allowing growers to maintain yields even in seasons with weather conditions conducive to pathogen development.

Who is this for?

This hybrid is optimal for producers seeking mid-maturing performance without the risk of quality degradation during adverse summers. Due to its three-way hybrid structure, Elamia offers greater plasticity to soil and climatic variations compared to single-cross hybrids. However, farmers must keep the field's phytosanitary history in mind: despite the resistance to common smut, sound crop rotation remains a fundamental requirement. This variety does not claim to be the earliest maturing hybrid on the market, but it perfectly meets the needs of those requiring consistently high-quality silage and a reliable grain yield component.
