Maize DKC 5170

Focusing on stable yields in challenging conditions

The DKS 5170 corn hybrid from Monsanto is a solution for operations focused on intensive grain production with a strong emphasis on crop phytosanitary safety. Field experience demonstrates that this hybrid performs exceptionally well in regions with moderate to adequate moisture, where resistance to pathogens is critical for success.

Protection against diseases and pests

The key feature of DKS 5170 is its pronounced genetic immunity to the most dangerous corn field diseases. Producers choose this hybrid to reduce costs associated with fungicide applications against Fusarium and stalk rot. Resistance to common smut helps maintain yield potential even in years with high infection pressure.

Additionally, the hybrid exhibits high resistance to the European corn borer. During peak pest activity, utilizing this hybrid prevents stem damage, which directly contributes to crop preservation and avoids lodging during harvest.

Agronomic practices and field scenarios

DKS 5170 is optimized for intensive cultivation. It responds quickly to mineral fertilizer application, efficiently converting nitrogen into dry grain. Agronomists recommend considering the following factors when planning your planting:

• Planting density: The hybrid achieves its highest potential when adhering to the optimal seeding rate for your specific region, accounting for moisture availability.
• Harvesting campaign: Thanks to its robust stem structure and disease resistance, DKS 5170 is suitable for standing in the field for extended periods without loss of grain quality.
• Crop rotation: An excellent predecessor for winter cereals due to its clean profile, free from root rot issues.

If your strategy involves minimizing loss risks from pests and fungal diseases without increasing your annual pesticide load, DKS 5170 serves as a reliable asset in your farm's crop rotation structure.
