Chrysanthemum HONEY DELICACY

A golden accent for the autumn garden

The breeding program at the Nikita Botanical Gardens is renowned for its resilience, and the 'Medovoye Lakomstvo' (Honey Treat) chrysanthemum is a prime example. Unlike common daisy-like cultivars, this variety stands out due to its unique anemone-like flower form, which gives the blooms a distinct volume and depth. During its peak flowering season in October, the plant transforms into a dense, vibrant yellow cloud reminiscent of fresh linden honey.

Why this variety stands out

• Striking Texture: The anemone-type bloom provides a sophisticated visual appeal, elevating it above standard garden chrysanthemums.
• Intense Fragrance: While many modern decorative hybrids are scentless, this variety features a distinct, rich honey aroma that is noticeable even from a distance.
• Balanced Growth: With a height of 30–60 cm, it fits perfectly in mid-border garden arrangements, offering a tidy structure that rarely requires heavy staking.

Cultivation and Usage

'Medovoye Lakomstvo' is a versatile choice for both landscape design and floral arrangements. As a cut flower, its sturdy stems and compact 5 cm blooms are ideal for creating elegant autumn bouquets. In the garden, it excels as a border plant, providing a pop of warmth when most other perennials have already faded.

Strengths: Exceptional weather tolerance typical of NBG genetics and high bloom density.
Considerations: Being a mid-season bloomer (October), it may require protection or placement in a sheltered spot in colder regions to ensure a full flowering cycle if early frosts arrive.

This variety is a perfect find for those who value both visual aesthetics and sensory experience in their garden. Reliable, predictable, and undeniably charming, it brings a sense of warmth to the late-season landscape.
