Description Sadko
Obtained at VNIL from crossing Muscat Black F2 x Leningrad Black F2. Authors: M.V. Kanshina, A.E. Sedov. Introduced into the State Register in 2005 for the Central Region.
Medium-sized tree, with a medium-density, broadly rounded crown. Short, slightly peeling trunk, dark gray bark with brown patches, large lenticels. Shoots are horizontal, drooping at the lower part, of medium length and thickness; lower part gray, upper part light brown, internodes large (42 mm), weak anthocyanin pigmentation, no silvery sheen. Vegetative buds are conical, strongly deviated from the shoot, generative buds are egg-shaped. Leaf is narrowly oval, medium size, length 156 mm, width 65 mm; green; apex strongly pointed, base rounded, double-toothed margin, no pubescence. Leaf blade flat, edges slightly raised and wavy. Stipules located on petiole in pairs, large, oval, dark-colored. Petiole short, medium thickness, pigmented throughout length, dark purple. Flowers large, three per inflorescence, corolla bowl-shaped, petals free, white, calyx cup-shaped, stigma above anthers. Bears fruit on fruiting spurs and flower clusters.
Fruits large, average weight 6.1 g, maximum 8.1 g, height 23 mm, width 21 mm, thickness 19 mm. Fruits oval-shaped, narrow depression, rounded apex, dark red, few and inconspicuous lenticels. Juice dark red, flesh firm and dark red. Pedicel medium length and thickness. Stone narrowly oval, weight 0.38 g, light brown, apex pointed, base broadly rounded, easily separates from flesh.
Fruits attractive, flesh firm and non-cracking. Flavor sweet, tasting score 4.7. Dry dehiscence. Fruits contain 20.1% dry matter, 11.8% sugars, 0.31% acids, 17 mg/100g ascorbic acid.
Flowering early. Fruits ripen early and simultaneously. Begins fruiting at 4 years. Self-sterile. Annual yield. Average yield over first 6 fruiting years: 46 centners/ha, maximum 104 centners/ha.
Good winter hardiness of tree and flower buds, medium hardiness of stigmas. Medium resistance to coccomycosis, high resistance to clasterosporiosis and moniliosis.
Advantages of the variety: large, early-ripening fruits with firm, crack-resistant flesh.
