Syringa vulgaris 'Lessa Ukrainka' is an exquisite decorative shrub developed by Ukrainian breeders and named after the great poetess. This variety features luxurious double flowers in a rich purple-violet hue with a velvety sheen, arranged in large, dense panicles up to 25 cm long. Blooming occurs at the end of May to early June and is accompanied by a strong, pleasant fragrance that attracts bees and other pollinators, making the plant especially attractive for aromatic gardens and living hedges.
The shrub is vigorous, reaching a height of 3–4 meters, with straight stems and a dense crown. The leaves are dark green, heart-shaped, and retain their decorative appearance until late autumn, providing a prolonged aesthetic effect in the garden. 'Lessa Ukrainka' is distinguished by high winter hardiness, tolerating temperatures down to -35 °C, as well as drought and urban resistance, making it a versatile choice for cultivation in the middle belt of Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus.
In addition to its decorative qualities, the variety exhibits excellent resistance to diseases and pests, simplifying plant care. Due to its characteristics, 'Lessa Ukrainka' is suitable for solitary and group plantings, alleyways, and aromatic compositions, combining beauty, fragrance, and durability.
