Description
The Melitopol variety apricot is a tree with an inverted pyramid-shaped crown, distinguished by good self-fertility and disease resistance. Trees of this variety have medium growth and require timely crown formation, as well as regular sanitary and rejuvenating pruning. For successful cultivation, it is also necessary to conduct watering, fertilization, and preventive treatments according to apricot cultivation technology.
The fruits of the Melitopol apricot have an oval shape with slight lateral compression and a medium weight of 43 to 46 grams, which may reach 55-65 grams under yield regulation. The flesh is juicy, dense, orange-colored with a thin, delicate yellow-orange skin. The surface of the fruits has a slight reddish-purple blush and a light downy covering. The taste is wine-sweet with a distinct aroma, free of tough fibers in the flesh. The stone is medium-sized and separates with slight effort.
The variety is characterized by high yield, good transportability, and resistance to frost and sharp temperature fluctuations. Melitopol apricots are suitable for fresh consumption, as well as for canning and drying due to their ability to soften easily. These qualities make the variety popular for various culinary purposes and cultivation in regions with a mild climate.
