Carrot Maya F1

Technological potential of the Maya F1 hybrid

The French breeding program by Clause, embodied in the Maya F1 hybrid, offers a strategic solution for growers balancing between early market entry for bunching carrots and industrial processing requirements. Based on the classic Nantes type, this hybrid is designed for professional farming efficiency.

Root morphology and growth architecture

Maya F1 demonstrates exceptional crop uniformity. Its cylindrical shape with a blunt tip is more than an aesthetic standard; it is a mechanical harvesting advantage that ensures minimal damage during lifting and washing processes. With a root length of 17–20 cm, the carrot maintains high marketability, avoiding deformation even under high-density planting conditions.

Phytosanitary protection and field reliability

A critical factor in Maya F1's performance is its genetic resistance to major leaf pathogens, specifically Alternaria blight and Cercospora leaf spot. This trait significantly reduces the need for heavy fungicide applications. By maintaining a healthy leaf canopy until harvest, the plant ensures optimal sugar accumulation and a vibrant, deep orange color throughout the core.

Practical application

• Bunching produce: Rapid biomass accumulation makes this hybrid ideal for early-season market windows.
• Processing: High flesh density and root uniformity simplify automated peeling and slicing, significantly reducing waste percentages in industrial food production.
