Carrot ALTAI DELIGHT

Why «Altayskaya Lakomka» is a benchmark for quality carrots

The «Altayskaya Lakomka» carrot variety, developed by breeder Vladimir Dederko and the «Svetlana» farm (Svetlana Ugarova), is a classic example of breeding success designed for challenging climatic conditions. It moves away from the generic commercial hybrids, focusing instead on a superior balance between yield and culinary excellence.

Key Characteristics and Morphology

The root is defined by a consistent semi-conical shape and an intense orange color. Reaching a length of 15–20 cm, the carrots are highly uniform, which simplifies mechanical harvesting and sorting processes for commercial producers. This consistency ensures that the end product looks professional on the retail shelf.

Pros and Cultivation Insights

• Taste Profile: The hallmark of this variety is its high sugar content and tender texture. It is a top choice for fresh market consumers and is particularly suitable for high-quality baby food production.
• Agrotechnical Demands: Like many high-sugar varieties, it performs best in well-drained, fertile, and loose soil. Providing optimal soil structure is crucial, as heavy soils can hinder the development of the ideal root shape.

Who is this variety for? «Altayskaya Lakomka» is an optimal solution for farmers focusing on niche, flavor-driven produce where the customer prioritizes taste and nutritional quality over simple bulk volume. It is also a reliable, proven choice for smallholders seeking a consistent result in cooler, northern latitudes.
