Cabbage Topaz

Proven Genetics for Extended Storage

The «Topaz» red cabbage variety, developed by the All-Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Breeding and Seed Production (VNIISSOK), has earned its place on the market as a reliable choice for long-term storage. Designed specifically to bridge the gap in vegetable supply during the off-season, this variety is a staple for growers focused on high-quality winter produce.

Crop Specifications

With a maturation period of 110-120 days from transplantation, «Topaz» is classified as a mid-to-late variety. It forms dense, rounded heads with a deep purple color. Each head typically weighs between 2.0 and 3.0 kg, making it a convenient size for both wholesale distribution and fresh market retail.

Storage and Market Reputation

The defining trait of «Topaz» is its exceptional shelf life. Properly stored, the cabbage retains its crisp texture and nutritional value for 10–12 months. This durability makes it a crucial asset for producers who supply markets throughout the spring, ensuring market presence long after harvest season has concluded. Growers favor this variety for its consistent head density and resilience during transportation and long-term storage.
