Wild cabbage Otava

Why professionals choose "Otava" Savoy cabbage

The Czech breeding house Moravoseed is known for prioritizing resilience and consistency, and the "Otava" variety is a prime example. This Savoy-type cabbage fits perfectly into farming operations focused on high-quality production for both the fresh market and long-term storage.

Practical use cases

The primary goal that "Otava" achieves in the field is a marketable yield with minimal losses. Unlike standard white cabbage varieties, Savoy cabbage handles temperature fluctuations significantly better and is less demanding under extreme moisture conditions, making it an excellent "insurance" crop in a rotation strategy.

• For the fresh market: The tender, crinkled leaf texture and mild flavor make this variety highly sought after in retail. Its aesthetic appeal makes it stand out prominently on shelves compared to standard heads.
• For culinary applications: Due to its unique leaf structure, "Otava" is an ideal choice for cabbage rolls and salads. The leaves separate easily and retain their structural integrity during thermal processing, avoiding the mushy consistency often found in other varieties.
• For storage: A key feature of this variety is its ability to maintain its marketability after harvest. Growers who do not sell immediately "from the field" but wait several weeks will appreciate the shelf-life of "Otava" when proper temperature regimes are maintained.

Agronomic focus

Agronomists working with Moravoseed note the predictability of its vegetative growth. "Otava" does not require specific field operations beyond standard protocols for garden cabbage. Focus should primarily be on managing cabbage-specific pests and controlling planting density to ensure the heads have enough space to form dense, uniform bulbs.

This variety is suitable for intensive farming technologies where uniform harvest maturity is critical. By choosing "Otava," you are investing in proven Moravoseed genetics that will not let you down in unpredictable climate conditions.
