OILHEAD CABBAGE

Oilhead cabbage is an early variety of cabbage with knobby heads of yellow-orange color, weighing from 0.7 to 1.1 kg. The bright color of the cabbage is due to the high content of carotene, which exceeds its amount in ordinary broccoli dozens of times. The rosette of leaves of this variety is vertical, which facilitates cultivation and harvest collection.

This variety is distinguished by a pleasant dense consistency and a slightly sweet taste, which makes it universal for various methods of cooking. Oilhead cabbage is recommended for stewing, canning, frying in breading, and baking in an oven. Thanks to its taste qualities and texture, the cabbage retains useful properties and an attractive appearance after thermal processing.

Cultivation of the variety involves sowing seedlings in the second half of March with pricking out in the cotyledon phase. Transplanting into open ground is carried out under film at the end of April – beginning of May, and without film – at the end of May – beginning of June, observing a planting scheme of 35x50 cm. Yield reaches up to 3.5 kg per square meter, which makes this variety attractive for gardeners and farmers seeking an early and quality harvest.
