Description Chinook
Chinook (Chinook) is a new, interesting variety developed in Canada by Karen Oliver. This variety is characterized by purple leaf color and heart-shaped heads, but unlike some other varieties, Chinook has ordinary leaves, not bicolor. Plants are medium-maturing, about 1.4 meters tall, with clusters bearing 3-4 fruits weighing 450-500 grams. The fruits have a broad-heart shape with smooth shoulders, firm, succulent flesh that is not dry and contains few seeds. The flesh color is rich dark, and the taste is sharp, slightly acidic, with a pronounced aroma. The Chinook variety is stable, as seeds are preserved and grown to the F8 generation, ensuring consistent quality. In terms of characteristics, it is similar to the Taiga and Tundra varieties, but it has its own unique features — thinner plants and ordinary leaves. Yield is average, but fruit quality is high, making this variety attractive for open-ground cultivation. In addition, there is a hybrid Chinook F1, which is characterized by rapid maturity, high yield, and resistance to pests such as thrips. This hybrid has upright growth, compact heads, and is convenient for harvesting. It is suitable for early cultivation and shows good resistance to bolting, which is important for obtaining high-quality harvests. Thus, Chinook cabbage and its hybrids represent promising options for gardeners and farmers who value taste, appearance, and stable yield.
