Blackberry DrisBlackSeven

Driscolls genetics: targeting the early-season market

The breeding program of Driscolls in the blackberry segment focuses heavily on optimizing production cycles. The «DrisBlackSeven» hybrid is the result of targeted selection aimed at combining early ripening cycles with high commercial appeal for the fresh produce market.

Plant architecture and canopy management

The cane growth habit of «DrisBlackSeven» ranges from erect to semi-erect. From an agronomic perspective, this simplifies trellis installation and canopy management. The presence of thorns necessitates precise handling during summer and winter maintenance, including cane thinning and pruning. This structural configuration ensures excellent airflow, which is critical for mitigating fungal pressure in high-humidity environments.

Commercial performance and berry characteristics

The core competitive advantage of this hybrid lies in its conical berry shape and deep black color, which meet the standards of the premium dessert market. The firmness of the skin allows the fruit to maintain integrity during transport, satisfying the fundamental requirements of modern retail supply chains.

• Extended harvest period: allows growers to manage labor peaks more effectively and maintain a consistent market presence throughout the season.
• Fresh market focus: the variety is specifically calibrated for consumer expectations, offering a balanced brix-to-acid ratio alongside an aesthetically flawless presentation.

«DrisBlackSeven» serves as a professional-grade asset for growers targeting the early-season market and high yields of premium-quality produce.
