DrisBlackFour Blackberry: Precision Breeding by Driscolls

In the global berry market, Driscolls stands as a hallmark of agricultural excellence. The DrisBlackFour variety, developed by a team of experts including Gavin R. Sills, Andrea M. Pabon, and Mark F. Crusha, represents a strategic choice for commercial growers aiming for consistency, marketability, and versatility.

Agronomic Profile and Efficiency

The standout feature of DrisBlackFour is its erect growth habit. This structure is highly valued in commercial farming as it optimizes field space and streamlines maintenance operations. While the presence of thorns necessitates careful management and appropriate protective measures during harvest, the trade-off is a high-yielding, robust plant that produces reliable results season after season.

Why Growers Choose DrisBlackFour

• Market Adaptability: Classified as a mid-season variety, it fits perfectly into supply chains that require a steady output of premium-quality berries.
• Multi-purpose Utility: Whether for the fresh market, industrial processing, or high-end freezing, DrisBlackFour maintains structural integrity and a deep black color that appeals to consumers.
• Commercial Durability: The berries are bred to withstand the rigors of modern logistics, retaining their quality from field to shelf.

DrisBlackFour is an optimal choice for agricultural businesses that prioritize efficiency and post-harvest performance. Although the thorny nature of the canes requires specific handling techniques, the variety's performance in both fresh and processed channels makes it a competitive asset for any professional berry operation looking to leverage the expertise of the Driscolls brand.
