Description SEKUNDA
SEKUNDA is an early-maturing bush bean variety intended for growing in open ground. The period from germination to technical maturity is 50–68 days. Plants are compact, 32–37 cm high, with green rhomboid leaves and medium-sized pink flowers. Pods are straight with a beak, densely pubescent, green at technical maturity, yellow at full maturity, about 7 cm long and 0.8 cm wide. Each pod contains 4-6 seeds of grayish-yellow color, smooth and shiny with an orange hilum. The variety is characterized by the absence of a parchment layer and fibers, ensuring high quality of canned products. SEKUNDA is characterized by high and stable yield, plasticity, and resistance to diseases such as anthracnose and ascochyta. The plant forms 8 to 16 pods, each weighing about 5.1–5.5 g. Pods contain 18.9% dry matter and 4.1% protein, as well as good content of vitamin C and sugars, making the beans particularly valuable for culinary use and canning. The recommended sowing rate is 80–125 kg per hectare. Sowing of SEKUNDA beans is carried out at the end of May – beginning of June at a depth of 3–4 cm with a row spacing of 40–50 cm and a distance between plants of 10 cm. For successful cultivation, it is important to ensure regular watering, soil loosening, and hilling, which promotes plant development and yield increase. The variety is suitable for obtaining an early yield in July-August and is distinguished by high nutritional value and ease of use.
