Barley Rumcajs

Consistent performance in the field

When working with the spring barley variety "Rumkas" by Zaatzucht Streng-Engelen & KG, you immediately notice the German breeding focus: stability and predictability, which are crucial for any successful season. This two-row variety is designed for efficient farming, reducing the need for constant chemical interventions.

Practical observations and field management

• Disease profile. The core strength of this barley is its inherent immunity. Over several seasons, the variety has proven to be highly resistant to net blotch, rhynchosporium, and powdery mildew. Even in high-humidity conditions, when other varieties suffer, "Rumkas" remains clean. This translates into direct savings on fungicide applications, improving the cost-per-ton bottom line.
• Rust management.

The ears are two-rowed, producing plump, well-developed kernels. During harvest, the variety is quite manageable: it resists shattering even if the weather delays the schedule, and the stems are sturdy, showing excellent lodging resistance. This significantly reduces harvest losses and simplifies the combine operation.

Agronomic assessment

Working with the Zaatzucht Streng-Engelen & KG lineup confirms that this is a top-tier choice for intensive farming systems. The variety responds well to fertilization and delivers high yields of quality grain. If you are looking for a reliable, low-risk variety that performs under pressure, "Rumkas" is a solid addition to any crop rotation plan.
