Barley Lexy

Stable Yields in Intensive Farming

The spring barley variety "Lexy" from the German breeding house Saatzucht Josef Breun GmbH&Co.KG is a classic two-row variety chosen by farmers focused on high-quality fodder and brewing raw materials. In the face of climate instability, growers rely on this variety for its proven adaptability to various soil types across Europe and Ukraine.

Disease Resistance as a Foundation for Profitability

One of the primary reasons for selecting "Lexy" is its comprehensive resistance to key pathogens that typically account for up to 20% of barley yield losses annually. The variety demonstrates robust resistance to net blotch and scald, allowing for optimized fungicide application costs. Furthermore, its high tolerance to powdery mildew and dwarf leaf rust relieves agronomists from extra pressure during the tillering and stem elongation phases.

On-Field Agronomic Advantages

• Two-row ear type: promotes the development of large, uniform grains with high test weight, which is crucial for market-grade production.
• Intensive growth profile: the variety fits perfectly into early sowing windows, effectively utilizing winter-spring moisture reserves.
• Agronomic efficiency: the variety shows excellent responsiveness to nitrogen fertilizers, enabling above-average yields even with moderate mineral nutrition investments.

Practical field experience shows that "Lexy" performs exceptionally well in crop rotations where barley precedes winter crops or follows row crops. It is a reliable "workhorse" for farms where outcome predictability is paramount: you get a stable ear that performs well during harvest due to its resistance to lodging and uniform ripening.
