Barley SUNNINGDALE

Consistent performance for modern farming

The winter barley variety «Sunningdale» from Syngenta is a reliable choice for farmers focusing on grain quality and yield stability. This two-row barley variety combines robust genetics with excellent winter hardiness, helping to mitigate the risks associated with unpredictable climate conditions.

Field Application and Management

Choosing «Sunningdale» allows growers to address two critical production goals:

• High-quality grain output. Its two-row structure produces plump, uniform grain, making it an ideal option for premium markets.
• Field longevity. Superior cold tolerance ensures a stable stand throughout the winter, reducing the need for spring replanting.

To maximize the potential of «Sunningdale», successful implementation relies on intensive management. Proper timing of nitrogen applications and a precise fungicide program—specifically targeting the flag leaf and head emergence stages—are essential to protect the yield potential. The variety responds well to well-managed inputs, allowing for uniform crop development across the entire field.

Operational Efficiency

From a logistical perspective, «Sunningdale» is designed to simplify harvest operations. Its high lodging resistance allows combines to maintain optimal speed, ensuring efficient harvesting even in seasons with heavy rainfall. By leveraging Syngenta’s Swiss breeding technology, farmers gain a variety that balances biological potential with operational ease, ensuring better profitability per hectare.
