Stable Yields of Spring Barley: The Potential of LG Tosca

French selection from Limagrain has long been synonymous with reliability in the field, and LG Tosca barley is a prime example. This two-row spring barley is chosen by farmers focused on obtaining high-quality grain with predictable performance. The main task this hybrid solves is minimizing risks under intensive cultivation technologies.

Protection and Field Resilience

The key feature of LG Tosca lies in its "immunity" to the most dangerous pathogens capable of destroying yield potential during active tillering and stem elongation phases. You get a crop that effectively resists:

• Helminthosporiosis;
• Various types of rust, including dwarf leaf rust;
• Rhynchosporium;
• Powdery mildew.

Such genetic resistance allows farms to optimize fungicide application costs. In epiphytotic conditions, when weather windows for field operations are tight, having built-in protection against a wide range of diseases gives the agronomist a margin for maneuver.

Practical Application Aspects

LG Tosca demonstrates excellent results on various soil types, consistently forming a well-filled, uniform ear. As a two-row variety, it is the preferred choice for those focused on malting purposes or high-quality feed with good grain hectoliter weight. In field scenarios, the hybrid shows rapid initial growth energy, which is critical for spring sowing to develop a strong root system before the onset of summer drought.

Integrating LG Tosca into crop rotation allows for the efficient use of early spring moisture. The hybrid shows high responsiveness to nitrogen fertilization, though it requires strict adherence to sowing dates: early planting unlocks the full potential of ear density per square meter.
