FOX 1

FOX 1 is a winter barley variety developed for forage use and included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation. The variety was created jointly with the Federal Research Center of the All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources named after N.I. Vavilov and is protected by a patent. It belongs to ultra-early varieties, ripening 7-10 days earlier than the Timofey variety, which allows for harvest in shorter periods and effectively utilizes the agro-climatic conditions of the North Caucasus region and the Southern zone of Rostov Oblast.

FOX 1 is characterized by high biological and field winter hardiness, as well as lodging resistance, which ensures yield stability. The vegetative period ranges from 211 to 258 days. The average yield of the variety reaches 9.0 t/ha, with maximum indicators up to 10.1 t/ha. The weight of 1000 grains varies from 38 to 49 grams, the grain is yellow in color, and contains from 9.9 to 12.3% protein, making it valuable for feed purposes.

The variety has moderate resistance to diseases such as brown rust, helminthosporiosis, and powdery mildew, but is susceptible to severe infection by loose smut. FOX 1 is adapted for cultivation on various soil types and in diverse climatic conditions, making it a universal choice for agronomists seeking high-quality and stable barley yields.
