Barley HELIOS UA

Optimizing Barley Yields with 'Gelios UA'

For agricultural enterprises prioritizing yield stability and predictable crop management, the barley variety 'Gelios UA' (originator: Elita Shebekinsky R-n) serves as an effective operational tool. With a vegetation period of 90–100 days, this variety is perfectly suited for intensive crop rotation cycles, providing flexibility in harvesting schedules.

Genetic Resistance and Disease Control

A significant advantage of this variety is its inherent genetic resistance to common barley diseases, which reduces reliance on extensive fungicide applications. This makes 'Gelios UA' a practical choice for cost-conscious farm management. The variety shows strong resistance to:

• Helminthosporiosis;
• Plant rust (stem rust and others);
• Powdery mildew;
• Onion stem smut.

Additionally, it exhibits excellent immunity against loose smut, covered smut, and dwarf rust of barley, ensuring a healthier crop stand throughout the season.

Field Performance and Harvesting

With a plant height of 70–80 cm, 'Gelios UA' demonstrates superior lodging resistance. This characteristic is vital for large-scale operations utilizing heavy machinery, as it minimizes grain loss during combine harvesting and allows for high-input management without the risk of crop collapse. By incorporating 'Gelios UA' into your planting strategy, you secure a reliable source of high-quality grain that meets both fodder and commercial standards.
