Aster Sapphire Flame (8702535-Sapphire)

Genetic resilience: Engineering against Fusarium

The 'Sapphire Flame' aster is a result of advanced breeding by the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine, focusing on high-level phytopathological resistance. The core technical advantage of this cultivar is its inherent resistance to Fusarium wilt, a major bottleneck in aster cultivation that often leads to total crop loss. The hybrid’s genetic profile acts as a biological shield, preventing fungal pathogen penetration into the vascular system, effectively reducing the need for intensive fungicide application.

Morphological performance and structure

Standing between 50 and 80 cm, this cultivar exhibits a robust vertical habit. The stem architecture is engineered to provide high mechanical strength, maintaining structural integrity under wind load without the need for additional support. The internal tissue density ensures that the inflorescences maintain their shape and aesthetic quality, even under heavy precipitation.

• Biological cycle: Annual, designed for maximum decorative yield within a single vegetation window.
• Primary application: Ideal for landscaping, specifically in flowerbed architecture and layered gardening.
• Field performance: Superior resistance to soil-borne pathogens ensures consistent longevity throughout the season.

For optimal results, practitioners should prioritize well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. As this is a non-wintering annual, the focus remains on leveraging its rapid growth rate to dominate the garden landscape during the peak blooming period.
