Tulip Kapriz

Parrot Tulip Aesthetics in Lilac

The 'Kapriz' tulip occupies a unique niche in the late-flowering parrot category. Unlike standard cup-shaped tulips, this variety captures attention with its intricately twisted petals that create the 'ruffled' effect typical of exotic birds. Its deep lilac hue is a rare find for gardeners looking to add drama to spring landscapes.

Agronomic Advantages

A common issue with decorative tulips is their vulnerability to pathogens. 'Kapriz' distinguishes itself from competitors through its natural resistance to two major threats: tobacco mosaic virus and cladosporiosis. This significantly simplifies maintenance and reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications.

• Biological Type: Late-blooming parrot tulip.
• Dimensions: Its medium height makes it versatile for both foreground and mid-ground planting in flower beds.
• Resilience: High immunity to fungal and viral infections.

Who is this variety for?

'Kapriz' is not a 'low-maintenance' bulb for a lazy garden. Due to its late blooming cycle and complex bud structure, it requires protection from strong winds that could damage its delicate, feathery petals. It is the perfect choice for collectors who prioritize exclusivity and are willing to dedicate time to choosing a wind-sheltered spot. The variety performs exceptionally well as a cut flower, maintaining its unique form in a vase much longer than many other parrot tulips.
