Aster Polesie Aster

Breeding and Structural Specifications

The 'Zirka Polissia' (Star of Polissia) variety is a product of targeted selection by the Institute of Horticulture of the NAAS. From a technical perspective, the plant is engineered to achieve maximum decorative appeal of the blooms while maintaining high stem structural integrity.

Plant Architecture

• Stem: Upright and rigid, with a height of 50 to 80 cm. This height profile ensures resistance to lodging, which is critical for maintaining vertical aesthetic balance in landscape beds.
• Inflorescence: Large-flowered aster type with a blossom diameter of 10–15 cm. The yellow pigment of the petals possesses high saturation, maintaining its color density against UV-induced fading throughout the growing season.

Biological Constraints and Application

As a typical annual, this aster lacks mechanisms for winter dormancy. Its life cycle is strictly limited to one vegetation period. In agronomic terms, this necessitates annual seeding. The recommended planting density accounts for root system parameters that require adequate space for nutrient uptake in open soil conditions.

Functionally, the variety is optimized for landscape integration. The significant bloom size allows the plant to function as a focal point in flower beds. Utilizing 'Zirka Polissia' is ideal for projects requiring the creation of high-contrast yellow visual anchors without the complexities of long-term perennial maintenance.
