Aster AURICA

Stately Classic for Formal Flower Beds

The 'Aurika' aster is a choice for those who prefer vertical accents in landscape design. Unlike low-growing border varieties, this annual reaches a height of 80–100 cm, making it a powerful tool for creating multi-tiered flower beds and living screens.

Key Features

• Architectural Form: Given its height, the plant requires staking or thoughtful pairing with other tall-growing species to maintain structure.
• Growth Dynamics: The period from germination to flowering is 90–100 days. This is a mid-late variety that peaks in mid-to-late summer, filling the gap when many earlier annuals have already faded.
• Versatile Placement: Despite its impressive stature, the variety performs well in large containers. This allows it to be used for decorating terraces and patios, adding dramatic vertical color blocks.

Developed by the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing, 'Aurika' combines the classic aesthetic of the aster with notable field resilience. As a strictly annual plant, its life cycle is contained within a single season, a factor to consider when planning your garden layout.

Who is this variety for? Gardeners looking for a reliable, hardworking plant for cut flowers or creating striking garden backdrops. A potential weakness is the necessity for support in windy conditions and the wait time for blooming, which is longer than for early-season varieties. However, with proper care and support, 'Aurika' provides a disciplined growth habit and excellent vase life, making it a must-have for summer bouquets.
