Apple Leratess

French Breeding for Modern Orchards

The 'Lerates' apple variety, developed by Dalival S.A.S., represents a high-performance solution for modern fruit production. Officially registered in Ukraine in 2026, this variety is characterized by moderate tree vigor and an open, spreading habit, which significantly simplifies canopy management and harvesting operations.

Field Performance and Resilience

Lerates demonstrates remarkable adaptability across diverse agro-climatic zones, including Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissya. The open canopy structure ensures excellent aeration, which is vital for maintaining tree health under high humidity. In field conditions, the variety exhibits strong resistance to key pathogens, including scab and fire blight, allowing growers to reduce the frequency of fungicide applications.

The tree's ability to bear fruit on both short and long shoots allows for efficient resource allocation, helping it withstand periods of intense summer heat. Its consistent performance across different regions makes it a reliable choice for intensive orchard systems looking for stability and reduced maintenance costs.

Fruit Quality and Storage

As a mid-to-late season variety, Lerates matures approximately two weeks after Gala, aligning its harvest window with Fuji. The fruits are large and conical, featuring a vibrant red blush over a yellow background. The flesh is dense with a high sugar content and a balanced sweet-tart flavor profile. Due to the lack of skin oiliness and high structural integrity, the fruit is exceptionally well-suited for long-term cold storage.
