Dabinett is a classic English cider apple variety, officially added to the State Register of Ukraine in 2026. Its primary value lies not in dessert qualities, but in the unique biochemical composition of the fruit, making it a benchmark for high-quality cider production.

Field Performance and Adaptability

The tree is characterized by moderate vigor and a spreading habit, which significantly simplifies training and pruning. The fruiting type is mixed (on both short and long shoots), ensuring stable yields under proper management. The variety shows good adaptation to temperate climates, though it requires diligent plant protection during periods of high humidity.

• Stress Response: Moderate growth vigor and medium internode length allow the tree to efficiently allocate resources during moisture deficits; however, regular irrigation is essential to achieve the optimal sugar and tannin content required for cider.
• Disease Resistance: Like most cider varieties, Dabinett requires a standard protection program against scab and powdery mildew. The weak pubescence of the shoots and moderate foliage density promote better air circulation within the canopy, reducing the risk of fungal infections.
