Krasulya

The Prunus domestica variety Krasula represents a dwarf or semi-dwarf tree with a spreading canopy of medium density. This variety was developed through free pollination of the Priscilla variety and is distinguished by high immunity to scab due to the presence of the Rvi6 (Vf) gene, providing resistance to five races of this disease. The tree begins fruiting by the second year after planting, and the fruits ripen in mid-August, making it a late-summer variety. Krasula prefers fertile soils but does not tolerate waterlogging and a high water table. Winter hardiness of the variety is high, however, spring frosts may cause partial freezing of the trunk, skeletal branches, and buds, as well as sunburn on first-order branches. The apple tree is not resistant to drought.

Fruits of the Krasula variety have a regular flat-round shape and average weight from 120 to 160 grams. The skin is thin and dense, colored greenish-yellow with bright red blurred stripes and blush, covered with barely visible subcutaneous dots. The flesh is white, finely-grained, juicy and aromatic, with a sweet-and-sour dessert flavor. Apples are distinguished by good market appearance and can be stored for up to a month after harvest.

The tree has a strong root system, extending into the soil to a depth of from one to three meters, sometimes up to five, which contributes to its stability and nutrition. The culture lives from 20 to 50 years and requires proper care, especially in relation to irrigation and protection from spring damage. Due to its characteristics, the Krasula variety is high-yielding and in demand for growing in gardens, providing tasty and quality fruits with good shelf-life.
