The Valyuta apple variety is a columnar dwarf tree with a height of about 2.2 meters and a narrow, slender crown with a diameter of up to 50 cm. This variety was bred by breeders V. V. Kichin and N. G. Morozova and is characterized by high decorative qualities: bright green leaves are retained until November, and compact dimensions allow growing the tree even on small plots or in containers. The crown can be shaped in a classic columnar form or given any other shape, making Valyuta a versatile option for various landscape solutions. The fruits of Valyuta are large, weighing from 100 to 250 grams, round in shape with a glossy, thin, and dense yellow skin with a red blush. The flesh is white, fine-grained, juicy, and crisp, with a dessert sweet taste and a slight tartness, as well as a caramel aroma. Harvesting takes place at the end of September – beginning of October, while mature apples rarely fall off, which allows not to rush the harvesting. The fruits are well stored until spring in cellars or refrigerators, retaining their taste qualities, and are suitable for drying, as well as making compotes and jams. The Valyuta variety has high frost resistance – withstands temperatures up to -30 °C, and with individual winter drops to -38 °C successfully winters, comparable in winter hardiness with such varieties as Antonovka and Melby. It is distinguished by exceptional immunity to scab and other apple diseases, which allows obtaining a yield without applying chemical protection. The yield of an adult tree reaches 6-10 kg, and with proper care and fertilizers can increase to 10 kg. Fruiting begins already in the first year after planting, while maximum productivity is maintained for about 15-16 years, after which the yield gradually decreases. Valyuta – an ideal variety for home growing and commercial production in a temperate climate.
