Description Daughter of Mekintosh
Winter-maturing variety. Developed at Moscow University by V. V. Vartapetyan, L. S. Vanina, and T. V. Kocheshkova in 1969, by crossing Mekintosh with Koulon-Chinese (Chinese x Renet Koulon). Approved in 2002.

Tree is vigorous, with an open, broadly round, moderately dense crown and strong foliage. Main branches are gray, sparsely arranged, emerging at nearly right angles. Characterized by mixed fruiting type.

Shoots are thick, arched, brown, and densely hairy. Internode length is medium, with many medium-sized, convex buds. Buds are tightly attached to shoots, medium-sized, conical, brown, and densely hairy. Leaves are large, dark green, egg-shaped with a pointed tip, oriented upward. Leaves are slightly folded along the main vein, with a wrinkled, embossed surface, large-toothed margin, slightly wavy, and heavily hairy on the underside. Petioles are medium in length and thickness, slightly colored along the entire length, and hairy. Bracts are large, lanceolate.

Fruits (see illustration) are above-average size, one-dimensional, flattened-round, well-formed, occasionally slightly oblique. Surface is smooth; base color at harvest is green, with a blurred, brownish-dark red skin with a bluish bloom covering most of the fruit. At consumer ripeness, base color is light green, skin color is red, blurred, with many large, light green lenticels, clearly visible. Peduncle is short, thick, straight. Calyx tube is medium depth, wide, obtuse-conical, without rusting. Calyx is closed, with a medium-depth and width saucer, slightly ribbed. Skin is smooth, slightly waxy, glossy. Sub-calyx tube is medium, bowl-shaped, seed chambers slightly open. Seeds are medium-sized, round, brown.
Flesh is greenish, medium density, tender, fine-grained, juicy, slightly acidic-sweet. Chemical composition of fruit: total sugar content — 9.6% (7.5–11.9%), titratable acids — 0.26% (0.21–0.34%), tannins — 71.5 mg/100g (48–87 mg/100g), ascorbic acid — 21.6 mg/100g (17.3–25.6 mg/100g), P-active substances — 0.25 mg/100g (0.20–0.31 mg/100g), pectic substances — 8.7% (4.8–11.5%) on dry weight.

Fruits can be stored until mid-January.
Fruit production begins in the 5th year after planting in the orchard. Fruit-bearing is annual and good. Winter hardiness is satisfactory for the Moscow region. Mother tree survived the winter of 1978–1979 (‑37°C) without serious damage. Flower buds tolerate spring frosts well. Resistant to scab; in epidemic years, leaf infection — up to 2 points, fruit infection — 0.5 points.

Advantages of the variety: high yield, dessert flavor, high content of ascorbic acid and P-active substances, adaptability to the non-chernozem conditions.
