Description Bocken (Late Winter)
Winter variety of German origin. Not encountered in recent years in new plantings.

Trees are vigorous, with dense, spherical crowns.

Branches are gray-brown, slightly knotted, densely hairy. Leaves are elongated or egg-shaped. Leaf margins are toothed and wavy. Petioles are of medium length; stipules are very small or absent.

Fruits (apple) are above-average or large, round-conical, slightly flattened, strongly ribbed. Main color is light green, turning yellow-green during storage. Skin has a weak, diffuse russet blush on the sun-exposed side. Fruit stalks are short or medium length.
Flesh is white with a light green tint, tart-sweet, sometimes with excessive acidity.
Variety is early-bearing, highly productive, moderately resistant to scab and fruit rot before harvest ripening. Fruits are prone to bitter rot during storage.
Trees are sufficiently cold- and drought-tolerant.
Lost its commercial significance due to low fruit quality and taste.
