Description SHERSHNEVSKY
The Gooseberry variety Shershnevsky is a mid-late variety bred at the South-Ural Research Institute of Fruit and Vegetable Growing and Potato Breeding. The bushes are vigorous, of medium density and spreading, with straight green shoots, the upper third of which is colored purple. The leaves are five-lobed, dark green, shiny and wrinkled, with pointed lobes and a deep triangular notch at the base. The flowers are of medium size, more often gathered in two-flowered inflorescences, with pale pink sepals and short greenish pedicels.

The berries of this variety have an average size from 3.4 to 6 grams, are round, dark pink or red with a matte bloom. The taste of the fruit is sweet with sour-sweet notes, making them universal for various ways of application. The fruits differ in good transportability and remain on the bush for a long time, which is convenient for harvesting and storage. The calyx of the berries is medium and open, the pedicel is long and green.

The Shershnevsky variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and resistance to powdery mildew, as well as low susceptibility to anthracnose and sawflies. It is self-fertile and is characterized by high yield — the average multi-year yield is about 8.7 tons per hectare, and the maximum can reach 25.3 tons. These qualities make this gooseberry attractive for cultivation in various climatic conditions.
