Seedling of 2-3 generations from own stock under open pollination. Selected in 1988 by A. K. Skvortsov and L. A. Kramarenko. Originating institution — Main Botanical Garden. Included in the State Register in 2004 for the Central region.
Tall (over 6 m) vigorous tree with a rounded crown. One-year shoots are unbranched, leaves are large. Blooms 2-3 days later than other varieties. Flowers are small (2-2.5 cm), but numerous, since each leaf axil produces many generative buds. Stamens are underdeveloped, anthers are white, normal pollen does not form (good for artificial pollination). Pollination by pollen from other varieties occurs very successfully, and fruiting is high. Fruits ripen in mid-August.
Fruits are round or oval. Grafinya is the most finicky and sensitive variety to weather conditions. If the summer is hot and dry, fruits are clean, beautiful, with an average weight of 20-25 g. With a small to medium yield, fruit weight increases to 30-40 g. Skin is thin, hairy, creamy or pale-yellow with a beautiful blush. Flesh is bright-orange, dense, juicy, very tasty, with a tasting score of 4.5 points. Chemical composition: dry matter 13.8%, sugars 7.7%, titratable acids 1.8%, potassium content 660 mg/100g. Pit is rather large (11-12%), but separates well. In rainy and cold years, Grafinya suffers more than other varieties from clasterosporiosis; fruits become covered with black spots, sometimes with a complete mold, and gum exudation can be very strong.
Fruits of this variety are suitable for fresh consumption, and jams and compotes made from them are of high quality. Storage life is good.
Cold and frost resistance is good. Fruit production occurs on all types of shoots. Grafted plants begin fruiting 3-4 years after grafting.
