The sowing depth of seeds should not exceed 1-1.5 centimeters. If sown too deep, germination energy decreases significantly, and the sprouts may perish before reaching the soil surface.

To ensure a stable supply of greens, sowing is recommended at intervals of 14-20 days. This prevents simultaneous ripening of the entire batch and extends the period of fresh leaf consumption.

The planting scheme should take into account the biological characteristics of the species, which forms a compact or spreading rosette of leaves. The recommended distance between rows is about 20-30 centimeters to ensure proper plant aeration.

The crop prefers well-lit areas with light, fertile loams. Excessive shading leads to stem elongation and early bolting, which negatively affects the taste qualities of the product.

The optimal soil acidity level for Georgian lettuce is in the neutral range (pH 6.5–7.0). In acidic soils, plant development slows down, so liming of the area may be necessary before planting.

The plant has moderate cold resistance but is extremely sensitive to sudden temperature fluctuations. The optimal range for active growth is 15-20 degrees Celsius; growth slows down when temperatures rise above 25 degrees.

Special attention should be paid to ensuring moisture at all stages of vegetation. Irregular watering causes bitterness in the leaves and triggers premature transition to the flowering phase, which reduces the commercial value of the crop.

Agrotechnical maintenance includes regular loosening of rows to prevent the formation of a soil crust. Mulching the plantings helps to maintain soil moisture and suppress weed growth in the first weeks of the plants' life.

The yield of Georgian lettuce directly depends on the intensity of nutrition and adherence to the watering regime. When following agrotechnical standards, one can obtain a marketable rosette weighing from 200 to 500 grams per square meter.

Maximum productivity is achieved in soils rich in organic matter. Adding compost or humus a few months before planting significantly increases leaf mass and improves the plant structure.

To obtain maximum product output, it is important to avoid overcrowding the crops. Timely thinning allows each specimen to form a full-fledged rosette, which is critical for the market quality of the greens.

A biological feature of the species is its relatively fast transition to the bolting phase during long daylight hours. Therefore, to obtain consistently high yields, it is important to select varieties and times that correspond to the species' photoperiodic sensitivity.

When using greenhouses and film shelters, yield can be significantly increased by controlling the microclimate. This allows for the exclusion of adverse weather factors and extends the harvesting period of marketable produce.

The main pests for Georgian lettuce are slugs and snails, which can destroy young plantings in a matter of nights. It is recommended to install traps or create barriers of wood ash around the beds.

Under conditions of high humidity and poor air circulation, crops can be affected by powdery mildew. Prevention consists of strictly maintaining the distance between plants and removing affected specimens from the area.

Root rot poses a danger with excessive watering and poor soil drainage. An important element of protection is adherence to crop rotation, where lettuce is returned to the same spot no sooner than after three years.

Aphids can cause damage by sucking juices from young leaves and deforming them. For insect control, the use of biological protective agents, such as tobacco dust infusions or soap solutions, is preferred.

Lettuce mosaic is a viral disease spread by insect vectors. Affected plants must be immediately removed and destroyed, as there are practically no treatments for viral infections in open ground.

Harvesting of Georgian lettuce is carried out in the morning hours when the leaves are most saturated with moisture and have the best turgor. This guarantees the freshness of the product for a longer period after cutting.

Product harvesting can be carried out in two ways: selective cutting of individual leaves or removing the entire rosette. The second option is most preferable for retail or large-scale procurement.

It is important to complete the harvest before the active bolting phase begins. As soon as the plant starts producing a flower stalk, the juice in the leaves acquires a pronounced bitter taste, and their delicate texture is lost.

After cutting, the greens should be cooled immediately to stop the intensive tissue respiration processes. The product is stored at a temperature of about 0–2 degrees Celsius and high relative humidity.

For transportation, it is recommended to use perforated packaging that provides access to oxygen for the plants. Adherence to these rules allows the marketable appearance and nutritional value of the lettuce to be maintained for several days.
