Zenga Zengana

Senga Sengana strawberry is a mid-late maturing, time-tested variety with high yield and excellent taste qualities. Berries have a rounded-conical shape, uneven in size, with the first large berries weighing up to 30 grams, and subsequent ones around 10-15 grams. The flesh is dark red, juicy, aromatic, and flavorful, making this variety popular for both fresh consumption and processing. The fruiting period falls between mid-June and early July, and the harvest lasts about a month. Senga Sengana plants feature strong, tall, and compact bushes with abundant dark green leaves. Flowering stems are short and located at leaf level or below, requiring mulching between rows to prevent berry contamination. The bushes have moderate growth vigor and a slightly spreading form. One bush can yield up to 1.5 kilograms of berries, and about 4 kilograms per square meter. The variety maintains high productivity at the same location for up to six years. Senga Sengana exhibits high resistance to root diseases, nematodes, frost, and drought, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. However, plants require protection against leaf spot, gray mold, and strawberry mite. This variety is especially valued in commercial cultivation due to its excellent suitability for freezing, canning, and berry drying. Despite good transportability, strawberries do not tolerate long-term storage, so it is recommended for fresh use or rapid processing.
