The grasshopper oatgrass "Morshanskaya 89" is a perennial grass widely used in agriculture as a forage crop and for creating lawns. The variety is distinguished by high yield: with proper care, it can form two to three cuttings and more. In 100 kg of hay, there are about 54.5 feed units and 4.3 kg of digestible protein, making it a valuable source of energy and protein for livestock.

"Morshanskaya 89" shows good resistance to moisture deficiency and shading, and responds well to the application of large doses of nitrogen and liquid manure. The plant grows rapidly in the first spring period and continues growth in the second and subsequent years, although frequent grazing can cause it to coarsen. For optimal development, it is recommended to sow on relatively dry areas, but the variety is also suitable for moderately moist and fertile soils.

The variety is characterized by good tillering: in the tillered state, many leaves appear, which increases its forage value. However, it is sensitive to spring frosts, poorly withstands snowless winters, and suffers from ice crusts and surface standing water. With proper selection of the sowing site and adherence to the care regimen, "Morshanskaya 89" ensures a stable yield with a high content of nutrients for livestock.
