VOLGOGRAD 08

VOLGOGRAD 08 is a mid-season spring barley variety intended for cultivation in regions with a moderate climate, such as the Moscow region and the Central region of Russia. The plant is of medium height, reaching about 65 cm, with a semi-spreading bush and lodging resistance. The vegetative period is 72 to 92 days, allowing for a quick harvest. The ear is pyramidal, cylindrical, of medium density, with long awned awns, and the grain ranges from large to very large, ensuring high-quality raw materials for various agricultural sectors.

The variety is distinguished by high drought resistance and moderate resistance to diseases such as powdery and bunt head smut, as well as root rots and striped rust. To protect plants, seed treatment and one fungicide treatment before earing are recommended. Depending on cultivation goals, fertilizer rates vary: for brewing barley, nitrogen fertilizers are limited to 40 kg/ha, and for high yields with increased protein content, up to 100–120 kg/ha.

VOLGOGRAD 08 is widely used in the food industry, particularly for the production of cereals, flour, and malts required for brewing. Thanks to the high nutritional value of the grain, it is also valued as a fodder crop for animals. This barley variety is characterized by a rapid maturation cycle, adapted to various soil and climatic conditions, and ensures stable yields, making it an advantageous choice for farmers striving for effective and sustainable agriculture.
