AKSENA

The Aksena apple variety is a promising and climate-adapted variety developed at the Sverdlovsk Selective Station. The tree has medium growth vigor, reaching up to 4 meters in height, with a dense, rounded, spreading crown and light green, elongated leaves. The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness and resistance to scab, which allows for successful cultivation in the Central Ural and central regions of Russia. Aksena has good immunity to diseases and pests, which significantly eases care and enhances yield stability. Aksena apple fruits have a round shape with a slight flattening at the apex and base. Their mass ranges from 90 to 150 grams, while the color is yellowish-green with a bright red blush covering a significant portion of the surface. The flesh is light, dense, juicy, and has a high-quality sweet-and-sour taste. Harvest ripeness occurs in mid-August, making the variety early-ripening. Yield from one tree reaches 15-18 kg, while fruiting begins in the 3rd-4th year after planting, ensuring stable and annual fruit production. Despite numerous advantages, the variety has one significant disadvantage — low storage capacity of fruits, which is characteristic of Ural group apple trees developed under more hot and humid climate conditions. Nevertheless, Aksena apples are excellent for fresh consumption as well as for processing into apple butter, jams, and fruit puree. Thanks to their taste qualities and resistance to adverse conditions, the Aksena variety is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking to obtain a high-quality and stable yield of early apples.
