Kharkivska 32

The winter hard wheat variety Kharkivska 32 was developed for producing high-quality wheat flour and bread. This variety was created by combining morphologically homogeneous lines selected from the hybrid population Kharkivska 23 ja/Leukurum 1963, and belongs to the Leukurum type. The ear is glabrous, awned, white in color, prismatic in shape, of medium length 8–10 cm. The grain has an amber color, 1000-grain weight ranges from 44–52 g, and grain density is 800–860 g/l.

The biological characteristics of the variety include medium maturity, plant height of 80–100 cm, and belonging to the steppe ecological group. Kharkivska 32 is characterized by high winter hardiness, drought resistance, and resistance to lodging. The variety exhibits high resistance to various types of scab, septoria (8–9 points), rust, and powdery mildew (7.5 points), while being moderately susceptible to fusarium.

The agronomic performance of the variety is marked by high potential yield — 9–12 t/ha. Grain quality meets macaroni and cereal standards, with crude gluten content ranging from 32–38 %, and protein content from 14.8–17.8 %. To achieve optimal results, agronomic requirements recommend planting the variety after predecessors such as fallow, perennial grasses, and peas, with a seeding rate of 5.0 million viable seeds per hectare.
