Watermelon PORTIONED

A Compact Format for Efficient Farming

The "Portionny" (Portion) watermelon from Novosibirsk SAU is a find for those seeking a balance between taste and marketability. With market demand shifting toward smaller fruits, this "Sugar Baby" type variety delivers excellent results. The main advantage is its predictable size: the fruits consistently fall into the 0–3 kg range, which is perfect for modern consumers who prefer not to carry heavy "giants" home.

Agronomic Features and Yield

Working with this variety, farmers note its low-maintenance nature, typical of genetics adapted to demanding conditions. "Portionny" is the result of collaboration between experts from NPP "Agrovnedrenie," VNIIOB, and Astrakhan State University, ensuring a high degree of genetic purity. During cultivation, the crop demonstrates high uniformity. You won't have to sort the harvest by size—almost all production fits into the "portion-sized" standard.

• Weight Categories: The bulk of the fruits are divided into segments of 0–1.5 kg and 1.5–3.0 kg. This makes the product extremely convenient for packaging and transportation.
• "Sugar Baby" Type: A thin yet sufficiently durable rind allows the product to maintain its shelf appeal during loading and storage. The flesh boasts a rich flavor typical of early-ripening varieties in this class.

Operational experience shows that "Portionny" thrives both in plastic tunnels and in open fields. For an agronomist, this means predictable logistics: the product fits into standard boxes without empty spaces and does not require specialized warehouse equipment for handling heavy loads.

By choosing planting material from Novosibirsk SAU, you get more than just seeds; you get a technological solution for the fresh produce market. This watermelon is the perfect choice to move away from oversized fruit surpluses and offer your clients a high-quality, portioned product that is guaranteed to be consumed in one sitting.
