SEMKO 2003 is a mid-season watermelon hybrid with a maturation period from germination to harvest of 75–89 days. The plant is vine-like with leaves that well cover the fruits; 1–2 watermelons form on each plant. The fruits have an elongated-oval shape and a mass of 12 to 15 kg. The rind is light green in color with wide dark green spiny stripes, and the skin is of medium thickness. The flesh is dark red, dense, tender, juicy, and crisp, with small black seeds. The watermelon taste is excellent, sweet, with sugar content reaching 12% and dry matter up to 10%. The hybrid is distinguished by good marketability and transportability, allowing the preservation of taste and quality characteristics of the fruits for 40–50 days after harvesting. SEMKO 2003 withstands elevated temperatures well, making it resistant to adverse climatic conditions. Moreover, this watermelon is resistant to diseases such as powdery mildew, fusarium wilt, and anthracnose, which promotes stable yield and reduces losses during cultivation. The recommended planting density is 7–8 thousand plants per hectare, with the yield reaching up to 10 kg per square meter. Thanks to its characteristics and resistance, SEMKO 2003 is an excellent choice for cultivation both on a commercial scale and in private holdings, providing delicious and quality fruits with good storage.
