Early Harvest Powerhouse: The 'Met' Hybrid

The 'Met' hybrid, developed by Ukrainian breeder Iob Naan, is designed for producers who prioritize a fast market entry without sacrificing fruit size. Falling into the Crimson Sweet category, this hybrid distinguishes itself with a rapid maturity cycle of 60–70 days, allowing farmers to capitalize on early-season price premiums.

Key Agronomic Strengths

The defining feature of 'Met' is its impressive weight-to-time ratio. While many ultra-early hybrids struggle to reach a significant size, 'Met' consistently produces fruits weighing between 9 and 12 kg. This makes it a competitive choice for markets where consumers expect large, high-quality watermelons early in the summer.

• Fruit characteristics: Classic striped Crimson Sweet exterior with a deep red, crisp flesh.
• Maturity: 60–70 days from germination, ensuring a quick turnaround.
• Plant type: High-yield hybrid, well-suited for standard cultivation technologies.

Why choose 'Met'?

This hybrid is perfectly suited for commercial growers focusing on fresh market sales and efficient logistics. Strengths: Exceptional early-season development and high marketable yield. Considerations: Given its high productivity and rapid growth, 'Met' performs best with drip irrigation and balanced fertilization. It is a robust option for growers looking for a reliable, large-fruited variety that stands out on the shelves during the early weeks of the harvest season.
