Description FUETE
Wigna is an annual bean crop from the bean family, known for its long, tender pods without parchment layer and septum. The plant has sturdy shoots that can reach up to 4 meters in height, and the pods are round with thin walls, giving the product juiciness and a pleasant taste. Wigna is widely used as a vegetable and grain product: its beans can be steamed, fried, stewed, or added to salads and soups.

The crop prefers a warm climate with a minimum temperature of around +12 °C; temperatures not lower than +25 °C are needed for optimal growth. At excessively high heat (above +35 °C), growth slows down, and the beans may die. Wigna is also sensitive to cold: when the temperature drops to +5 °C, the plant may die completely. The best growing season lasts from 2 to 4 months; during this period, each grass can form up to 350 flowers, but most of them fall off.

Wigna varieties differ in maturity dates, resistance to climatic conditions, and seed appearance. Seed color can vary, which helps avoid mis-sorting during sowing. Wigna is easily grown in open ground or greenhouses, requires sufficient sunlight and heat, but is also suitable for seedling planting. With proper care, the plant enriches the soil with nitrogen, improving its fertility.
