Pink Pearl

Pink verbena (Verbena grandiflora) – a compact annual plant reaching about 30–35 cm in height and 50–60 cm in width, characterized by a loose, spreading form. The leaves are obovate, light green, and sparsely to moderately pubescent, while the inflorescences are flat-round umbels 2–5 cm in diameter, each containing 15 to 20 flowers per scape. The flowers have a clove-like shape and a diameter of about 1.9–2.0 cm; the corolla is light pink or white-pink, giving the bush a delicate tint.

The flowering period lasts approximately 120 days, beginning after 60 days from sowing. The plant is drought- and frost-resistant, and shows good disease resistance; seedlings may be affected by whiteflies. With moderate watering and sunny locations, verbena grows rapidly and forms lush floral compositions, which are ideal for flower beds, rockeries, containers, and borders.

For cultivation, seeds are sown in trays at the end of February – early spring; seedlings appear in 10–20 days. When transplanting to open ground, plants are spaced 25–30 cm apart to ensure sufficient space for root system development. The plant prefers sunny spots and moderate watering, while withered inflorescences should be pruned to stimulate further flowering. Due to its decorative appeal and ease of care, pink verbena has become a popular choice for landscape greening in various climatic conditions.
