Osterzundomsky is a fodder turnip characterized by a long conical root. The fruit skin features a white lower part and a purple (sometimes with greenish tints) upper part, indicating the variety's high cold resistance.
The variety grows well on loamy and podzolic loamy soils. Sowing is typically conducted at the end of April – beginning of May; a summer option is possible for resowing. Row spacing is 47–60 cm, while plant spacing within rows is 18–20 cm. Yields reach 4–5 kg/m², with maximum figures observed in cool and rainy summers.
Harvested roots are stored in warehouses, piles, and trenches, and are used as feed for all agricultural animals. The fruit flesh is juicy, white, slightly sweet with a mild spicy aftertaste, making it a valuable source of energy and nutrients in cattle rations.
